My life's been pretty boring, revolving around school and home. I guess, probably my entries might have bore you to tears... shall still share some foodie photos anyway!

My attempt at baking

Hello Kitty Lava Cake

Did you see the two pointed ears?
Yea.. still gotta work on it to get the timing right.

The top layer, as you can see, chocolate are oozing out. Need to ensure that this mischievous chocolate ganache stays in the cake before we sink our dessert fork in.

Owww. Just wished that my successful recipe is with me right now! It's collecting dust back in Singapore!

Nevertheless, I had stopped making lava cakes for a while because of the macarons!!!

Will be trying out again tonight! Macarons, I mean. The failed one tasted good as well, accordingly to me & my bf. I guess the ganache covers the failed shell pieces. Just need to perfect it.

It's a yum except that its a little too soft.

Lastly, would like to share with you my attempt at making

Portuguese Egg Tart
The bottom tart was slightly uncooked.. and glad to say, IM GONNA TRY IT AGAIN!!

because Bf loves it and he demanded for MOREEEE.

f.y.i. bf doesnt like egg tarts. he really really don't. so Surprise! Surprise!

Initially, I thought that I had to suffer and wallop all the egg tarts on my own. I had already drastically reduced this recipe of 30 egg tarts to 6. And its not a wise idea to bake in a house of two. UNLESS IM REAL SKINNY. :(

My holiday is ending... :(

This is one of the place that I've spent most during my holidays.. when I'm home.

I'm soooo gonna miss my holidays.

Bf is excited that Ronza (did i get the spelling right?) is coming.. and he's making me read up on mousehunt guide. <3

Whenever I'm feeling down or moody,

Cute animals videos (repeated ones are ok) will make me, smile..

and.

It will instantly change my mood around.

Not too sure of the super depressed mood though.. and I pray that I will not encounter that anymore.

And so...

I've managed to create My Very Own MACARONS!

Didnt puff up as much... but the shells were prettily formed. No hollows.. too!

once I've uploaded them... TOMORROW? Maybeeeee.

And guess what?

I've left out one procedure and realised it after I've added in the heated sugar syrup..

and so.. I just squeezed that procedure in.. somewhere.

I know I shouldnt... but I'm a daring baker!

We should just give everything a try... no?

WELL..

At least it was still edible.. kinda like it.

But probably.. it's the reason

WHY

It didnt form as high as I wanted it to be?

OR.. MAYBE,

The almond meal were slightly too oily?

I really have got no idea... will try it out to see if this recipe really does work!!!

And to tell you the truth.. I was kinda scared to bake macarons, hearing all the failures..

But am quite pleased with my first attempt. Love.

p.s. i made a new batch of ganache.. and it's, beautiful.

the start werent good.

Kinda expected it.

My ganache was SPOILT. still tasty.. but doesnt look pretty. It didnt emulsify properly because of poor temperature control.

Will be trying out the macarons tomorrow.. wish me luck!

Seemed that I'm not the only one who is the paranoid one around here! I mean, we just couldn't help having that jealousy, can we? Furthermore, it's obsessively surfing!

Jealousy usually triggers the anger, in which guys wonder,

"Why is she suddenly acting so cold towards me?"

And they will just think that we are PMSing.

It happened to me quite a few times! So sad right?

Ok. Fine. Probably when our hormones start to change, we tend to be a little more sensitive towards things.. but thats a different story altogether.

I guess, its all about evading those thoughts, or how you counter this problem - sharing your thoughts and feel to your SO. Hmmm.

A Diabetic Post

It was impromptu. I really had to go to the toilet. I swear!

Anyway, this trip was a lil chill-out session with my closer friends that I have made in Aussie; - two Malaysians and one Indo.

We had our lunch at:

We shared this one plate of 'regular-sized' pasta..

& a 'small' garlic bread.

Judging from the photo of this pasta (we really did ordered a regular).. I reckoned that you should be able to guess the size of our garlic bread, as per their definition of 'small'

So, we happily spent only about AUD3.50 each for our lunch!

Walked around Camberwell.. nothing much actually i.m.o.

I think South Yarra is a nicer place to shop.

We had decided to take photos.. GIRLS.

And yup.. couldnt resist the temptation.

I just had to lick *slurrrp* a little of it before I could continue with more photos.

the chocolates had started to take control over my brain.

I acted a lil hmm.
Weird.

It's like having an ecstasy!!

So.. all good things have to come to an end.

It depresses us a little alot... ESP ME!

But soon the effect of the chocolates acted up again. Like a post syndrome.

Oh well. It was indeed a pleasure moment.

p.s. yay! my book "New Moon" is finally here! will be heading down to Ganache for a cuppa hot chocolate on monday while reading my book ^^

***LATEST UPDATE** AHHH. i just committed a fatty sin. This post is making me crave for chocolates... and I just made myself a Haigh Hot Chocolate right after I finished this entry.

The unfilial daughter..

Daddy's birthday is coming!

as i was discussing with my sisters on what to get for our precious daddy,

and,

when i suggested Swarovski crystals..

i got reminded on how adorable my dad is..

like how he made our display cupboard so full; both the living room and study room,

how he lined up our piano with his crystals -

making our house like some overfilled gift shop.

and sad to say,

i used to throw my tantrum at him because i thought it was so ugly (its because he cramped everything together as he bought way too many!!)..

and how much i always grumble to mummy about not being able to display my items..

these brought tears to my eyes.

i just feel like hugging him right now and tell my daddy that he can display as many crystals as he wants..

But..

im right here in Australia.

oh man.

New Look!

I am in a superb good mood today because am pleased with my results :)

Did much much much better as compared to my Temasek Poly years... you probably wont expect that of me.

BUT I DID IT!

oh well. there's a long way to goooo. so, at least it keeps me going.

Im still lazy to blog.

Managed to give my lappie desktop a new uplift, in which i will post it up later.

Anyway,

Like sooo ee-ling.. its a post about food again. like it or not.

Firstly,

I would like to say that.. not all cheap brand-less product sucks.

Like this housebrand maple syrup that I have purchased:

Cheapest among the others but boy is it yummy~!

it's like 99.9999% similiar to McDonald's maple syrup and im SURPRISED.

It's nicer than this Japanese expensive brand (whats that name again?) that my family always buy back in SG.

They have this "100% satisfaction guarantee.. money back guarantee" sorta thing. but I guess I dont have to use it.

I admit I was skeptical about it initially & I was like 99% sure that I will have to go get a refund... have decided to give it a try anyway! Am a poor student you see..

The maple syrup complement very well with my fluffy pancakes.

Homemade!
I came to a conclusion that the cooking technique and size really matters.

The bigger version (like McDonald's size) tasted much better than the mini ones.

This recipe is a keeper! Will probably modify to perfect it.

And yup.

Yesterday's dinner.

Kinda perfected the crispiness of the chickenwings.

Except that the other day I didnt marinate it long enough so not that salty.

Will test it out again - a longer marination period... if not I'm sad to say.. increase the sodium! D:

Nevertheless it's still tasty :D~~~

As you can see.. I am busy playing in the kitchen during the holidays.

It's fun!
