Spicy Fish, Mini Cupcakes & a cuppa HORRIBLE HOT CHOCOLATE

Tried Spicy Fish along Little Bouke Street
I must say it was awesome..
ok. That's before I tried the another Sze Chuan place called Dainty Sze Chuan at South Yarra, in which I will blog about it maybe, later?

p.s. let me tryyyy to drill in some Chemistry into my brain first k? discipline discipline!

**
Their special lunch menu:
The plain noodles.. were really PLAIN.
but I guess it is to balance out the saltiness of the Ma-la fish? Not spicy enough in my opinion (imo).. or I should say, in our opinion (ioo).

We agreed that it's not that spiced/flavourful/mala-ish enough (after trying out Dainty SzeChuan)

Nevetheless, I love their Xiao Long Bao though. Bf prefers the one at Dumpling something along Malvern Road. He said that he likes it chewier.
I still miss the ones back home.. Ding Tai Feng, Crystal Jade, Imperial Dragon T___T
I prefer those!

But anyway,
Bf was still a glutton (that explains the disappearance of the Xiao Long Baos in the picture as shown above)

See la. Take photo also dont want to look at my camera.

**
I forgave him anyway because he spotted this little fluffy sheep and kindly offered to help me snap a photo with it.
Eyes look kinda puny here (not like it's big but that's beside the point)... am trying to match with the sheep OK!

**
Tried this little cupcake at QV Square.

Never like cupcakes because I SOOO HATE THE SWEET FROSTING.
Still wanted to try them anyway because it's mini and pretty!

Matcha Mini!
Tasted kinda weird initially.. but after awhile I kinda like it!
But $2 for one little pretty muffin, OK CUPCAKES.. is so NOT WORTH IT.
It will get all mashed up as soon as it enters the mouth, mixed with the saliva, slides down the esophagus, gets churned in the stomach, travels along the s & l intestines..
THEN,
FROM THE ANUS,
IT'S ONE UGLY LITTLE JUMBLED THING (mixed with whatever food that was eaten that day)
I rather pay extra for a nice cuppa hot choc or some ice-cream that is worth to join my adipose tissue.
(NOT ALL ICE-CREAM ARE QUALIFIED OK)

Ok. Might still go for it again.. if my cupcakes-crave kicks in.
Don't get me wrong, I do like pretty things... I just feel that cupcakes are TOO EASY TO MAKE.
Agree?

Those pretty cakes needs ALOT OF EFFORT to assemble.. and the right techniques; not that cupcakes do not require them,
IT'S JUST EASIER.

And nice cakes are rare.
Tried many back in SG.. various 5 stars hotels (kinda suck quite bad for some. a tad too dry. EVEN THOSE HIGH-CLASS ITALIAN RESTAURANT. WHYYYY!!!), Lana (so many people is crazy over it and I wonder why because I think it's too dry), Chocabloc (I think it's one of the best choc cake IN SG so far), AND MANY OTHERS.

Ok. Enough of my rubbish.
Photo of me and my mini!
**
Yea. Tried Max Brenner.
EWWWWS.
I really really REALLY REALLY REALLY THINK THAT IT SUCK DAMN BAD.
What hot-choc.
Should just call it Thick Sugared Dairy with chocolate flavour.

I dont know about you guys but I think it's really not worth mentioning.
Block block!

Urban burgers & Hot chocolate = Yummy Sunday

A pigging Sunday.

Plan was to go with Aileen to collect her goodie bag for her marathon today (stuck in the jam so were too late as the shop closes early) + to visit this hot chocolate place that she wanted to introduce to us.
Cute bf looking so stiff.

My Brie Twist.Beef 'n' Onion+ Mushroom Melt (not pictured here)

Aileen & bf shared the two beef burgers.
Not really much of a meat eater :]
I took a bite of the Mushroom Melt tho. But I must say I still prefer Carls' Portobello Mushroom burger. Furthermore, I get to change the meat to chicken! (accordingly to the time before I leave for Melb)
That is not the main reason why I prefer Carls' Portobello Mushroom burger because I've tried it with the beef too. It's just more saucy and the mushrooms were omphf!

Nevetheless, the beef from Urban Burger was yummilicious.
Tender even tho they used lean beef.
They cannot anyhow claim ok! So they really do use lean beef.

I love the basil pesto on my burger though I prefer it if they used chicken leg instead of the breast meat. They have this healthy concept and somehow Aussie prefer chix breast. It's cheaper to get chix legs here. (Yay! Good for us)
& I wonder why.

In comparison to GrillD?
Both are equally yummy.

**

Then the Highlight of the Day and the REASON why we were there.

To try out..Reminds me of San Churros. Only cheaper.
I was kinda expecting it to be like Ganache style... so, my taste bud was already set for Ganache.
Yup.
Not as good as Ganache.

Not too shabby.
Will definitely drink it again if I'm around that area. I mean, ya. I wont purposely make a trip there just to have a cuppa their hot chocolate.

The photo above was the thick version.
And
because the place is FAR, and its a rare opportunity for us to come here AGAIN.. I have decided to try the thinner version too.
Yes.
Two mugs for me.
How horrible can I get. D:

Anyway,
the thinner.. or rather, lighter version tasted kinda like the one near my place.
I would prefer that if its after a meal.

From yesterday's sinful indulgence (and plus the many other days)
I'm officially a chocolate pig.

**

On the way back..
Beautiful Brighton beach..

Victor, Bryan's cousin - Ben (who is Aileen's husband) used to have a hugeeee house facing the beach.
Sucha rich guy. $______$

More updates!!!

The other day when Claud was in town..
  • Lunch at Grill'D
  • Desserts at Ganache
  • & lotsa shopping! along Chapel Street.
Us at Ganache.My loots.

Then, she insisted on trying out my cooking. So I prepared something for her on Thursday as it had been quite a bad week, packed with quizzes and asssignments.

Cook cook cook. Some simple Terriyaki Chix dinner.
+ mini Teppanyaki (portabello mushrooms ONLY)Lovely.
Had fun gossiping.
& thank you [both you and 'Ong Paid' (Claud created that name for her friend that I am not able to recall her friend's real name)] for the yummilicious Moscato wine, mangoes and mushrooms.
Oh. and the company toooo.

Awww. She left just last Friday.. COME AGAIN SOON, OK?

**

The other day Bf & I had two steamboat dinner on 2 consecutive days.Food for Steamboat #1
Food for steamboat #2
Kind of brought back the memories on the day we got together..

We had steamboat at Parkway Parade.. and that day (09 March 2006), he just grabbed my little finger.
That's how I got cheated by my scheming bf.
D:

Ok, am actually glad that he did. (:

**

Shall end this with a sinful indulgence from Ganache that we finally tried.

Double Mousse
YUMS.

A Diabetic Post

Hi people!

Here's my very BELATED post about my FAVOURITE CHOCOLATE PLACE:

************************
What I wore that day:
Secretly taken in Ganache toilet!
It was impromptu. I really had to go to the toilet. I swear!

*
Anyway, this trip was a lil chill-out session with my closer friends that I have made in Aussie; - two Malaysians and one Indo.

We had our lunch at:
We shared this one plate of 'regular-sized' pasta..
& a 'small' garlic bread.
Judging from the photo of this pasta (we really did ordered a regular).. I reckoned that you should be able to guess the size of our garlic bread, as per their definition of 'small'

So, we happily spent only about AUD3.50 each for our lunch!
:O

*
Walked around Camberwell.. nothing much actually i.m.o.
I think South Yarra is a nicer place to shop.

*
And yuppp. The highlight of this entry..

Here are the photos of how the cafe actually looks like:
The bald guy is actually the owner..
He prepares his chocolates and refused to franchise Ganache.
The recipe must be a realll secret.

More chocolatessssssss.
I hope your pancreas is still working fine. It's just photos anyway!

*
That day, we spent the most at Ganache.
Yay. Girlssssssss. It's all about desserts.. because we are made of anything sweet.

What are little boys made of?
What are little boys made of?
Frogs and snails,
And puppy-dogs' tails;
That's what little boys are made of.

What are little girls made of?
What are little girls made of?
Sugar and spice,
And all that's nice;
That's what little girls are made of.

YAY!
It's from a nursery rhymes.. and I supposed that you've ever heard about it before?

So..
Here's our pick.
(Top: Classic Hot Chocolate, Bottom Left: Mocha & Bottom Right: White Chocolate)
(Hazelnut Slice, Gelato, Tiramisu and the two drinks)

D:
Yuppp. The Hazelnut slice is mineeeeeeee.

*
So,
We had decided to take photos.. GIRLS.

Me & one of the Malaysian girl - Meow.
And we just had to show off our drinks..
And yup.. couldnt resist the temptation.
I just had to lick *slurrrp* a little of it before I could continue with more photos.

*
And then,
the chocolates had started to take control over my brain.

I acted a lil hmm.
Weird.

It's like having an ecstasy!!
*BURRP*
So.. all good things have to come to an end.
It depresses us a little alot... ESP ME!
Sulkkk.

*
But soon the effect of the chocolates acted up again. Like a post syndrome.
So,
more crazy photos.
AND WE JUST COULDNT STOPP.
There are actually more.. but I didnt have my chocolate fix today so I was not unable to upload everything.

I guess,
Ganache should really put a
-*WARNING*-
sign outside the cafe.
to anybody drinking or eating their chocolates or chocolate products.

Oh well. It was indeed a pleasure moment.

p.s. yay! my book "New Moon" is finally here! will be heading down to Ganache for a cuppa hot chocolate on monday while reading my book ^^

***LATEST UPDATE** AHHH. i just committed a fatty sin. This post is making me crave for chocolates... and I just made myself a Haigh Hot Chocolate right after I finished this entry.
