いちごのミルクの砂糖菓子 by Sakumaのお菓子屋Co

Guess what's this?

(Hint: A Japanese-based design from Taku Satoh for Sakuma Confectionary Co)

1-5-3-6-9 sounds like いちごのミルク ichigo miruku (strawberry milk), as predicted by LostAtEMinor.
It's like a new-age design and the uniqueness makes me so wanna try it!

Philip Island & My New Love.

More photos from Eugene's camera!
*******
I used to be quite an anti-macarons person,
have always wondered why is macarons sooo popular.
HAVE TRIED THE ONES IN SG AND IT SUCKSS. ok at least to me. tooo sweet.
I have always thought people like it because it's pretty. (like that horrendous icing on the pretty cupcakes. eews!)

It does look very pretty... a perfect gift.
if you have been following me on

there was one entry whereby I mentioned how tempted I was to bake it after seeing all the pretty picture....
AND.
the very next day (no i did not bake it), I went over to
and got MYSELF MY FIRST YUMMY MACARON!!
PISTACHIO MACARON*
look at how moist it looks on the inside.
the chewiness is just right. doesnt stick to your teeth. its really yummy.
the pistchio ganacheeee.
*
the day after (or two days after? i can't remember),

a post dedicated to.. GANACHE

Ganache, South Yarra
a place for my favourite hot chocolate..
really you should try it if you're here in Melb.. especially if you're a hot chocolate.. or rather, chocolate fan.
even if you're not, its really worth a try!
bf is REALLY NOT into chocolates.. but he loves the hot chocolate from Ganache
*
the warm atmosphere really lightens the mood while you sip your mug of rich hot chocolate, letting it slides down your throat. the temperature prepared was just right, and it definitely will not burn your throat.
(err. i think my old fringe is making my face chubbier)
*
bf admiring the chocolates..
truffle mousse cake.
the light chocolate coating is awfully smooth. and the whipped mousse inside of the cake is really light and fluffy. there's this thin moist layer of cake which adds to the mouthfeel. oomph.
it's really awesome!
ah.
FINALLY...
PRESENTING...
need i say more?

p.s. it's Meringue.
was too lazy to edit the error.. initially Macarons to me is any italian cookies made with whipped egg white. and yes. its Macarons. not Macaroons.. a commonly mistaken name for that.

me and macarons

More Food...

Another pre-typed entry!
Coloured = updated comments!

Time for some Western-y food.

Burgers first since its like the most basic.

Aussie have this really good burger called Grill’d

with fries thats so yummy too. Nice dips, one of it. (herbed mayo)

Have tried this Portebello Mushroom burger (i think its a tart too boring.)

But still the HUGE mushroom is juicy :D

Tried this chix burger.. with Pesto. Was good. The spread is yummy.

I had tried this Brie Cheese Chix Burger recently, called “Bird & Brie”. I love this the most and will probably order this for my every visit.

Their chix burger they actually use Chix Breast (YUCK) but surprisingly, it is not that toughy so I can say its good chix breast!

For their bread, you can have a selection of “Norm, Gluten Free or Wholemeal (my choice)” too.

The other day we went over to U Jeff & U Collin’s apartment at South Yarra (rich people place) before dinner together w Ben & Aileen. (U Jeff & U Collin’s treat)

The place is totally so condo feel! Makes me feel really safe. Like Singapore.

Rental for one bedroom is priced the same as our 2 bedroom which tempted us to move there!!! Because we don’t need such a big place anyway.

So will look out for an apartment there once our lease expires!!! But U Jeff said sometimes there might not have any rental up ): So we shall see. Hopefully can get a rent there.. area where rich people lives should be safer? I think. hee.

We had Gourmet Pizza at this place called

http://gallery324.com

Very good pizza. I had about 5-6slices (couldn’t remember). Its thin and the toppings were just right which is why I am about to eat so many slices D:

They have this pizza:

Which is DONT LIKE. Not because its so leafy but it has lamb!!!!!!! I spit that out and gave to bf. (Not the one that I spat)

*

Another not bad pasta place, slightly posh was the one we ate at St Kilda’s area..

I quite like my pasta because it is not very salty and I can taste the tomato.

But I think I still like my pasta at I-FORGOT-THE-NAME!SOME-POSH-ITALIAN-PLACE in SG, somewhere at Club Street there.

Anyway,

Their steak at Vibe is really value for money as the beef is HUGE.

Bf’s couldn’t really finish them though. Or rather, the yummy potato that they served.

*

Ok.. the cheaper west-y food now.

La Porchetta!!!

A cheap place for decent pizza.

Look at the toppings of Bf’s meat pizza!!!

I ordered some Feta Cheese thing (Yes. I loveeee cheese alot!!)

Mine wasn’t as good compared to Aileen’s Feta Cheese Gourmet Pizza (mine’s the norm)

Their pasta which Bf’s dad tried was pretty refreshing and A Marie’s Fish Entree was fresh too!

*

Another REALLLYYYY EXTREMELY CHEAP PIZZA PLACE IS AT SOPHIA’S!!

Seemed like all students’ fave hangout.

The price is jaw-dropping.

One pasta, about AUD10+ (depending on your choice) can feed an average of 2-3 Singaporeans and probably an average of 4-5 girls.

Look at their Garlic Bread (Large)

$5.80 only!!

I think this can feed like 3-4 people (without anything else)? We couldn’t finish though because of our mains :|

if you're poor you can just go there with a friend and eat the garlic bread
AUD3 each only. comes with a free drink :P
CHEAP RIGHT?

anyway, We ordered this Tortellini Pollo Funghi (L)

Shared between me, bf & Aileen and we can’t finish that too! Had to pack them.

Ben order this Cabonara (S) (AUD10) which he couldn’t finish as well.

YES. COULDNT FINISH.

Furthermore, Ben & Aileen they are both HUGE eaters S: and i really mean HUGE.

*

The pasta that we’ve ordered tasted good! We didn’t order their so called special “Spaghetti Sofia” as Ben had tried them before and he didn’t like it.

Their gelato (ok should be at the sweet column. But since i’m at it)..

Cost only about AUD6++ I think 5-6 people can share.

But didn’t really go wow about it though except for it size.

ok.. actually i dont really like it.

im more of the Ben & Jerry's, Haagen Dazs or those expensive ice-cream sorta person. im not much into those walls ice-cream etc :)

i am quite choosy for desserts in order not to waste my calories!!

Not that because Sophia's one is cheap.. but it really tasted like those cheap big tub icecream found in the supermarket.

*

Ok that’s all!!!

Salty Food

heyaaa people.
the follow entry was also pre-typed previously before i even have my internet.
as usual, if it is coloured, it means ive just added them in! :)
*

Yup. This is about... Foooood :D

Shall blog about the salty ones first. Because have been to many food places already (duhs) since I have last arrived here. Of course not all are captured.. or being blogged.

Anyway, one thing that I would like to comment about their food, the portion that the give are HUGE.

Like this:

Ok. I think the photo can’t really do justice for the portion that they give, does it?

Have illustrated an example to show how HUGEEE the portion is anyway:

I ate this at this Chinese place near my apartment, called C.Y.O Noodles. Won’t really go back to this place I guess. Firstly, like all food here in Aussie, it is expensive. Secondly, I think I can cook better :X

This plate cost about AUD10+ Very simple dish.

The average price of the food here is about AUD10. But I guess because it makes up for the portion that they serve.

*

I think their Fish&Chip at most other joints will be more value for money.
My plate below:

Cost about AUD8.70? From HighPoint Shopping Centre foodcourt. Comes with greens too.

This greens aren’t that good as compared to other places that I’ve tried like at BeebeeQ Chicken (i think thats the name. Cant really remember) at Ivanhoe (went Ivanhoe as our housing agent’s office is there and we had to sign some documents).

Their pasta salad!!

ah was too hungry that we just gobbled up the chicken.. so no photos :P

*

On our first day, we actually ate at this Japanese place near our place called Ohayo Japanese.

Huge portion.

Like, what’s new. It is so.. so. I actually ordered veggie fried udon, as the others in the menu are fried with beef, pork AND NO FISH OR SEAFOOD.. not even CHICKEN~ D:

(i am not really a meat person just in case you don’t know. I actually don’t eat most meat and it usually makes me puke by just thinking about it :| LIKE LAMB, DUCK, GOAT, FROG, sometimes BEEF and probably many other exotic meats)

For this place, I might go again because bf’s eel rice was pretty not bad.

*

I wont really go for Asian food in Aussie. Maybe because I prefer pasta to rice. I like those Thai Rice Stick Noodles too but the Asian food here cant be compared to Sg’s.

Went to this Thai place there other day which is very far away from Hawthorn.

Had dinner there because we dropped by Uncle Keg’s (Aunty Marie’s relation) house for some gathering thing.

I actually do like this noodle:

Maybe because it is Rice Stick Noodles! But they fry it slightly too sweet. But their stir fried chilli pork is nice though :D veggies? SWEET TOO.

Gosh. I don’t remember thai food being just sweet.

This thai restaurant is apparently really owned by Thais as the people looked Thai. Adding on to that, they have the photo of their KING.

(I guess most of you should know that they really respect their king alot that they will display his photo in their restaurants, blabla. even at Hawker Booths which I have seen during my internship at Pizza Hut QA/QC place at this factory eatery somewhere in Kallang Bahru)

UPDATES! I FOUND A BETTER ONE NEAR MY PLACE! CALLED "ISPICY"
such a cheesy name, right? haha. run by thais.. its pretty good.
and one more.. which i really can't remember where!
i remember that we were commenting about how much better it was.

*

Tried this SG Restaurant called The Old Raffles Place, owned by this Singapore couple.

Didnt take photos of the food though because were sitting with amm. People that I am not so close with. Was again, a dinner with U Keg and the family, brother and family, and also with U Jeff (Bf’s dad’s brother), U Collin (U Jeff’s companion), Ben (Bf’s cousin) & Aileen (Ben’s wife)

They celebrated myself & bf’s birthday in advance because Bryan’s dad and A Marie is leaving for SG soon (they are already back like long ago. 21st June?)

They surprised us with two birthday cakes (: so sweet of them right? Sponsored by U Jeff. But I guess, like of course the idea comes from Bf’s dad or maybe A Marie too.

:)

UPDATE ABOUT OLD RAFFLES PLACE

tried their seafood laksa.. and i love it! (dont compare it w katong laksa tho.. its a different type!)

*

Time for the westieeee food.
